Official Opening of HOME Skill Centre
2024
May 2024, the skill centre officially opened with a ceremony involving the HOME team and community members. The centre opened offering five free courses: cosmetology, barbering, fashion design, catering and bead making, and launched our “Good Things Happen To Good People” pledge, where students use their new skills to help others. HOME employed 13 local trainers and staff members, and still employ them all to date.
2025, saw our first HOME’s first students graduate from the skill centre. We had over 50 students graduating from catering, beading, barbering and cosmetology. We were incredibly proud of the first ever skill centre graduates and made sure they had an amazing day at their graduation.
